Meet the Owners

Paula & Don House

Active in both their church and community, Paula and Don House are a delightful, down-to-earth, and eccentric pair of jack-of-all-trades. In 1999, after two weeks of construction, they became the proud owners of The Amish Barn at Edge. However, they never quite envisioned their beloved barn becoming the site of countless moments of joy that it is today! Naturally, though, they are so glad that it did.

How It Started

Following a trip to Leola, Pennsylvania, owners Paula and Don House fell in love with the timeless beauty of Amish craftsmanship. They dreamed of having a barn of their very own and after much discussion, their dream was set to become a reality.A deal was struck and, for two weeks, Amish construction workers toiled from sun up to sun down. Masterfully, they laid each board and peg of what was originally meant to be a woodshop for Dr. Donald House. That's right! The Amish Barn did not start off as an event venue. When the dust finally cleared, Paula and Don became the proud owners of an authentic Amish barn. Neither could've foreseen the unexpected journey this once-woodshop would take them on.Excitedly, the pair invited family friends to see their new building, which housed countless woodworking items back then. As it turns out, one child of their friends fell in love with it and saw the potential for it to be much more than a woodshop. She wanted to get married there and the Houses, being who they are, made her wish come true. After many future brides and grooms set eyes on the place at that first, fateful wedding, the barn's destiny changed forever.Don had to find another place for his woodshop.
